March 2009 Longleat House Hit by "Freak" Snow Storm!!
Snow filming takes place on the front steps
While the rest of the country is basking in unseasonably warm spring-like weather, Longleat House has been hit by a “freak” snow storm! There should be no concerns about traffic chaos or salting the roads on this one however, as this time, the snow is fake!
Gate Television Productions, who are making a four-part television series called ‘Four Seasons’ are capturing Christmas at Longleat. Snow has been scattered over the window sills and forecourt of Longleat House and two Christmas Trees are gracing the Front Steps.
As Tim Faulkner, Location Manager for ‘Four Seasons’ explained “This is our third visit to Longleat House over the last eight months as we endeavour to capture Longleat in all of the four seasons. We managed to get some fabulous aerial footage of the Estate when it was covered in real snow a few weeks ago and we now need the close up shots with actors.
“Longleat has been fabulous in allowing us to cover the forecourt in snow for the 2-days. I have to admit that it
looks pretty dramatic and imagine it will be a real surprise to Longleat visitors tomorrow when the park opens up for the weekend”
Gate Television Productions will be filming at Longleat through to Monday 30 March 2009. They have been filming at various locations throughout the West Country over the last eight months or so and are set to complete the series this summer. The story is based on an original idea by Rosamunde Pilcher, author of the best-selling novels ‘The Shell Seekers’ and ‘Coming Home’ and will be shown on European terrestrial television and satellite channels later this year.
