There can’t be anyone in the UK who hasn’t heard of Sir Terry Wogan. Imagine Longleat’s excitement therefore when they were approached by Sir Terry’s TOGs – Terry’s Old Geezers and Gals – to host ‘TOG Chorus Sings the Frog Chorus’ on Thursday 17 September 2009 in aid of BBC Children in Need.
The TOGs have done tremendous works over the years and have raised over £4 million for BBC Children in Need to date. The CD – Bandaged - which was produced in 2008 raised £250,000 alone and with this in mind, the TOGs will be producing Bandaged TOGether for 2009 in which ‘The Frog Chorus’ will play its own, very important part.
As Norman Macintosh who headed up the musical money spinner with Hellen Bach explained “We had over 1500 TOGs from all over the UK and even abroad attend this mass ‘Frog Chorus’ recording at Longleat. It is probably one of our madder ventures and I’m sure the Producer of the CD, Adrian Chivers, cursed the day Hellen and I came up with the concept of a mass chorus as part

of the album! It has gone fabulously well though and the CD will hopefully raise lots of money for BBC Children in Need which is ultimately what this is all about”.
Various celebrities added their voices to the song with Lee Mead, Hayley Westenra, Clare Teal, Red Hurley and Pee Wee Ellis all attending the event. Sir Terry Wogan also did a special video message to the crowd.
The orchestra was provided by Kingswood School in Bath and all staging and infrastructure by the South West Group of Bristol.
As Lord Bath, owner of Longleat, commented “I am delighted that the TOGs decided to use Longleat for this most prestigious and exciting of events. With hundreds of thousands of children visiting us each year, it is fabulous to be tied in with the TOGs and BBC Children in Need. I really enjoyed welcoming them to Longleat and doing my little bit for this very worthwhile charity”.
